Friendship Lessons at Compass Child Care

This week we are learning about "To have a good Friend, You need to be a good friend." We are always developing social skills! This week we learned more about our classmates and understood what it means to trust and be trusted through a variety of activities. In our block center, students are challenged to work together with a partner to create a building with 20 blocks. They were then invited to describe their building and how they worked together to create it. To have a good Friend, You need to be a good friend Learning Objectives:

Learn how music can be used to express feelings.
Recognize cause and effect.
Identify the first letter in their name.
Make predictions.
Build motor skills by cutting out patterns.
Learn about trust and what it means to be a good friend.

Next week is our last week of our "All About Me" theme and we learn about our 5 Senses! Have a great weekend!

WEEKLY RECAP - Bugs and Spiders

This week we learned all about Bugs and Spiders! We explored our curiosity about the natural environment. This week we observed and recorded information about bugs and spiders and expressed our findings through drawings, arts and crafts and verbally. Bugs and Spiders Learning Objectives:

X Observe & describe characteristics of bugs and arachnids
X Recognize cause-and-effect relationships
X Building science knowledge and vocabulary
X Understand that some bugs and spiders are dangerous
X Be able to identify opposites
X Sequence the life cycle of a butterfly

Next weekend we learn about Frogs, Turtles, & Creepy Crawlers!

Compass Child Care learns about the United States of America!

This week we are learning about the United States of America! We have been busy learning about the history of the United States. Through making American flags, firecracker art, tye-dyed shirts, music, and a myriad of learning activities we’re discovering the country we love and live in.
United States of America Learning Objectives:

X Expressing through art, song, and music.
X Using symbols to understand the USA.
X Learn how the past relates to the present.
X Build phonemic awareness.
X Show confidence & positive self-image.
X Use fine motor skills with increasing complexity (cutting strips of paper to create our flag, for example).

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July. We will be closed, so see you on Wednesday the 5th!

Words cannot describe how happy I am with this daycare. It's just a great environment! Everyone seems to love being there (staff and children), the level of communication is great, the facility is safe and clean and up to date, and what's not to love about getting pictures of my son all day? Competitive prices as well! I wish that the location my son is at would have been open when he was put into daycare to begin with!!! Beyond happy with the level of care he's given and amount he's learned in such a short period of time!

(This is NOT teddy bear daycare. The only thing they share in common is Compass has taken their building.)
